    1. You’re welcome Joanna,
I’m already using it frequently already. It’s now easy to locate stuff it was so hard to locate previously.

  1. Thanks for the tip. It might have been months before I noticed that. There have been times when I wished desperately for a way to search comments. Now if only the Search widget worked this way.

    1. I hear what you say about searching comments. Omnisearch works great. Try searching for a phrase and no matter where it is the results will bring it up.

  2. I hope they add a search with which we can search in blogs for strings or phrases, instead of googling them with site:wordpress.com

    1. I hear you but I’m so used to using Google search that when that day comes I will have a hard time converting. :) I did some searches for specific phrases in my blog and omnisearch brought the results up. Have you tried it?

      1. Yes, In my blog i can fetch stuff very easily.

Once i needed to find a link which someone commented on a post, and i did not remember it. So i need to manually check some short listed posts from the blog search on the home page.

Today i tested this tool with the keywords remember from that post, and it was quick.

In the initial comment I was referring to searching the entire wordpress.com blogosphere.

After checking, I can see that they still have that, but not a direct way. Previously to search the blogosphere I visited the wp.com homepage and searched a phrase. Now when i make a search from the admin bar it only searches inside my blog.

To make a search in the entire wp.com blogosphere i need to visit http://en.search.wordpress.com/

Am I missing something? It this in the home page (when logged in)?

  3. I just tried it out and it works great. Thanks for the post, I would have never known what it meant. Annie

    1. Hi Susie,
It’s actually fun to use. I’m still playing with it rather than getting busy with preparations for company coming for dinner.

  4. Wow that is useful. I hope it wasn’t one of those things that’s been around forever and I didn’t even notice it until someone pointed it out to me.
