  1. Hi timethief.

I just switch over from blogger to a self hosted wordpress for my personal blog I wanted to know what seo plugin is best to use? I’ve seen most people say between WordPress SEO by Yoast and All in One SEO. Any opinions on the 2?

    • I used several SEO plugins on my install and rejected them all. I think you ought to posts to the support forums for feedback. Support for your website is provided on the WordPress.ORG support forums and they are here If you don’t have a username account at, click that link and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the correct support forums for your software.

  2. Great tips here. Of course, SEO is a dynamic field and it changes so much with Google and their algorithm adjustments and filters, so it’s very important to keep up. But sticking to the basics such as these will always be important as the foundation of any website. Good tips.

    • Thank you. I realize I could do a much better job on SEO on my blogs but I do have an active offline life so I only devote my energy and time to the basics.

      • Your basics are better than mine… this may be your hobby, but… I dunno. Offline gives me a lot on my plate and I’m just not able to put in as much work by comparison.

I do understand SEO– got jacked pretty hard when I was at VOX. The IT guy at Six Apart put together an awesome search engine extension (for Firefox) and then one day, it totally didn’t work very well. The rest is history, of course, as there’s an Ex-VOX community at WordPress. And aside from all that… well, I’m still writing mostly for family and friends. Sometimes, I figure, I don’t want to be TOO noticed. Could be hangover (pun intended) from LiveJournal.
